Quilting update

Protus, 11 September 2026

It’s been a while since I’ve updated on my first real quilt project. As a refresher, I chose the Perkiomen Valley pattern. Since I pieced every quilt block the same way, then magically the Perkiomen Valley pattern becomes the Center Valley pattern. I like that because my father grew up in the Perkiomen Valley and my mother’s people are from Center Valley.

I used 19th century replica fabric and finished sewing the whole quilt top. I now need to bring the three layers (top, batting, and backing) together by basting them and then start on the hand quilting. I’m still not sure what kind of quilting I’ll do. I do know that I won’t start until the weather gets colder. These warm late summer days are not the best for draping a whole quilt over my lap to hand stitch… or maybe I take the leap and buy a large quilting frame.
